Licking County Local Food Week

Friday, August 15: Food Truck “Rodeo” at Dawes Arboretum 5:00 – 9:00 PM – 7770 Jacksontown Rd., SE Newark, OH 43056. Enjoy live music and sample creative fare from local food trucks and craft beers from local breweries. 

Saturday, August 16: CycLicking Local Food Bike Tour 1:00 – 4:00 PM – Meet at Newark Library. Co- sponsored by Licking Parks District and CycLicking, this educational group bike ride will visit various Local Food Week destinations. The ride starts at the Newark Branch of the Licking County Public Library and goes west to Granville where participants can choose to stay for the Granville Picnic, return to Newark, or continue on another six miles to Sunbeam Family Farm for a brief tour. There will be multiple stops along the route including tours, snacks, and short breaks to learn about wild edibles and locally produced foods. Riders of all ages and cycling abilities welcome. 

Saturday, August 16: The Great Granville Picnic 4:00 – 9:00 PM – West Broadway, Granville. Participants in The Granville Recreational District’s Great Granville Picnic are encouraged to incorporate locally-grown foods into their picnic fare. Tables featuring local foods will receive recognition and table judging competition will include a local food question. 

Wednesday, August 20: Foraging Foray: A local foraging experience. 6:00 PM – Kraner Nature Center, Taft Reserve South, 10383 Fairview Road, Heath, OH 43056. Hosted by Janell Baran, owner/farmer of Blue Owl Garden Emporium herb farm and Blue Owl Hollow tree farm, this educational hike around Taft Reserve South will cover the basics of foraging for wild edibles commonly found in the woodlands and backyards of Licking County.
