The Columbus Growing Collective is an emerging group dedicated to propagating progress through sustainable agriculture. Together, we promote agricultural initiatives as a platform for working toward larger social and environmental objectives, such as: strengthening our local food system, improving health and wellness, and encouraging solidarity within and between the communities of Columbus.
This fall, they are gearing up to launch a two-acre agricultural garden in Columbus’s centrally located Italian Village. Driven by principles of sustainability, social justice, and education, this will be a community endeavor, shaped by community members.
They would like the community to be involved from the outset, as they kick off their work with a Community Design Session and Celebration.
It promises to be a unique experience, with experts in urban agriculture, landscape design, and urban policy working alongside residents and community stakeholders. They hope that, in working together, they may begin our development in a manner that contributes to and complements the progress already made by the existing local foods community.
The event will be held at:
The Godman Guild
303 E. 6th Ave., Columbus, OH 43201
On October 11, 2014, from 1pm to 3pm.
Delicious local foods & drinks, hands-on learning, stimulating conversation, and parking will be provided.
